New Year in Venice

Individual arrival in Venice and at the elegant Hotel Splendid Venice, in a historic building in the heart of the city. The hotel is located just a few steps from St Mark's Square and the Rialto Bridge and offers Venetian charm with elegant rooms, a roof terrace, restaurant and hotel bar. In the evening, we meet for a convivial welcome dinner in a good restaurant.

The city tour of Venice begins on the upper stretch of the Grand Canal near the Scalzi Bridge. We then visit the monumental Scuola Grande San Giovanni Evangelista, one of Venice's oldest confraternities, with its magnificent halls and important art collection. We then explore the Basilica di Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari with works by Titian as well as the tombs of Claudio Monteverdi and Titian. Another highlight is the Scuola Grande di San Rocco with Tintoretto's impressive cycle of paintings. The rest of the day is at leisure.

Today we discover lesser-known Venice with its hidden squares and magnificent palaces, the true Venice of the Venetians. We then visit the famous Gallerie dell’Accademia, with its outstanding overview of Venetian painting from the 14th to the 19th century, including works by Giovanni Bellini, Vittore Carpaccio, Titian and Tintoretto. The afternoon is once again at leisure. Towards evening, we stroll to the New Year's Eve concert at the historic Scuola Grande di San Teodoro, where arias and masterpieces by Verdi, Mozart and Strauss will be performed. Afterwards, we return to the hotel for an elegant New Year's Eve dinner and raise a glass together to the new year.

In the morning, we will enjoy the traditional New Year’s Concert at the historic Gran Teatro La Fenice, one of the world’s most exclusive and glittering musical events. The main concert on 1 January 2027 begins at 11.15 am; the musical direction is by Gianandrea Noseda, the chorus is led by Alfonso Caiani, and the Orchestra and Chorus of La Fenice will perform. Afterwards, a fine New Year’s lunch awaits us. In the evening, we will meet for an exclusive guided visit of St Mark’s Basilica and experience at leisure its magnificent architecture, richly adorned mosaics and distinctive atmosphere.

After one last leisurely breakfast, it will be time to bid farewell to the unique lagoon city of Venice. One final time, we will reflect on the impressions of the past few days. With many wonderful memories of festive ambience, magnificent palazzi, winding alleyways, glittering canals and cultural highlights, we will begin our journey home.
